Here at 1 Stop Shop Insurance, we are
concerned about you and your loved ones' safety, which is why we
bring you a the Fall Home Safety Checklist. We know how easy it is to
forget those small things that end up costing more than they should
when a problem arises. This checklist is just a friendly reminder of
things to prepare for the upcoming winter so you can keep the small
disasters at bay and do what you do best!
- Turn off the lawn irrigation system. This prevents your pipes from bursting in the winter and flooding the house when the spring thaw comes. This can save you anywhere from $10,000 to $75,000!
- Check all the weatherstripping around doors and windows and replace them if needed. This can prevent heat loss from the house and save you money on your heating bill. Not to mention that you won't be as cold in the winter!
- Check for overgrown branches and trim them if needed. These branches that hang over the house can often interfere with power lines or roofing if the icicles are long or heavy enough. This can save you from serious damage to your house.
- Drain all of your outside faucets and make sure that their water supply is turned off as well. This can also prevent flooding.
Just a few things to help make your winter comfortable and your spring disaster-free!
